Terms of Service

Last updated and effective: November 4, 2025

By adding slit to your server or using its commands, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, remove the bot from your server.

1. Scope & Acceptance

slit is a multipurpose Discord bot offering moderation, utility, automation, and entertainment features. These terms govern your use of the bot within Discord servers. By inviting or interacting with the bot, you confirm that you have the necessary permissions to do so on the server(s) where you use it.

2. Eligibility & Server Permissions

You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Server administrators are responsible for configuring permissions, channels, and roles that the bot can access. Features you enable (e.g., logging or automations) operate solely within those permissions.

3. Bot Use & Admin Controls

All features run through Discord commands; there is no external dashboard. Logs and outputs produced by slit appear in the channels you configure. We do not collect IP addresses or run analytics. For how information is processed during commands/events, see the Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the bot. Prohibited uses include: violating Discord policies; harassment or illegal content; spam or self-bots; attempts to circumvent rate limits; exploiting bugs; reverse engineering or attempting to access the bot's source code; using the bot to collect personal data without appropriate consent; and any activity that could disrupt Discord or other servers.

5. Availability & Changes

The bot is provided on an as is and as available basis with no guarantees of uptime, performance, or continuity. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time without prior notice. We also may apply updates or fixes that affect behavior or availability.

6. Content & Data Handling

slit processes minimal Discord data to perform the actions you request. Message content is processed only when necessary to execute specific commands and is not stored long‑term by us. Server logs generated by the bot persist only in your own channels under your control. Details on categories of data and retention appear in the Privacy Policy.

7. Hosting & Third‑Party Services

The bot is hosted in the European Union (Hetzner). We do not use third‑party analytics or advertising services, and we do not transfer data outside the EU as part of operating the bot.

8. Warranty Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the bot is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. You use the bot at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages; loss of data; or service disruptions arising from or related to your use or inability to use the bot. Our aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the bot (which is typically zero).

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the bot or violation of these terms or Discord's policies.

11. Termination

You can stop using the bot at any time by removing it from your server. We may restrict or remove access to the bot for any server or user that violates these terms or poses a security or abuse risk. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., limitations of liability) will continue to apply.

12. Updates to These Terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the bot or legal requirements. Updates take effect upon posting. Significant changes will be announced in the slit support server.
